Answer:
Difference between fibrous root and tap root:-
- Structure: Fibrous root have dendrite like structure whereas in tap root, the root in the middle is the main, small roots arise from it.
- Penetration level: Since fibrous roots spread in the soil, they become unable to go deeper instead of they spread. But in case of tap root, they have a thick root ik their centre which enables it to go deeper.
- Area of development: Tap roots can be easily seen that they develop from the stem of a plant (Say Carrot), but fibrous roots start emerging deeper into the soil.
- Examples:-
- Tap Root: Carrot, Beetroot, Radish.
- Fibrous Root: Grass, Onion, Paddy.
