The brain is  protected inside a bony box called cranium.The cranium is part of the skull that holds and protects the brain in a large cavity. Inside the box, the brain is contained in a fluid-filled balloon which provides further shock absorption. This fluid filled is cerebrospinal fluid. 

Fibrous joints or fixed joints are found in the flat skull bones which  fuse end-to-end with the help of dense fibrous connective tissues in the form of sutures, to form the cranium.

  • It protects the brain by covering the thin membrane, called meninges.

  • It gives a proper structure to the brain.
  • It attaches with facial muscle that makes face.
  • There are 8 cranial bones of which 6 important bones -Frontal,parietal,temporal, occipital, sphenoid,  ethmoid. The bones are join together called as suture that tightly held the bones.
