The main function of placenta is that it joins the mother and foetus , transffering of oxygen (O2) and the nutrients from the mother to the foetus and permitting the release of Co2 and other waste products from the foetus.

  1. The placenta is a Fetomaternal body.
  2. It contained two components,such as fetal part-it is developed from the chorionic sac and the Maternal part is derived from the Endometrium.
  3. The secretes hormones like human chorionic gonadotropin(HCG), Oestrogen, progesterone, and human placental lactogen.
  4. The placenta and the umbilical cord are a  transport system for between the mother cells and the fetus. the function of the placenta such as , Respiratory function, Excretory function, endocrine function, and nutritional functions etc.
