In reading this poem, it made me think of the quick and slow moments in life that pass so quickly, but the sight, whether it is a quick sight or not, is beautiful. In this poem, it feels like Elizabeth Coatsworth is trying to tell us to appreciate the moments of beauty that happen everyday in our lives. The swift moments go by quickly and if they aren't being looked for, can be easily missed. The slow things are the lingering moments that, unless they are truly being seen and truly chosen to appreciate, the seem to go by just as quickly as the swift moments. Each moment needs to be treasured and gazed upon in awe as you look upon its beauty. That is what I feel that Elizabeth Coatsworth is trying to tell us as she wrote out this poem. She is pushing the point that we need to treasure the moments these swift and slow things appear and appreciate them, because you might not be able to get that moment again.
