A vagabond refers to that traveler who always wanted to live in a natural life and the important point of this poem is a melody by Schubert. A man in search of his perfect life and a vagabond would not seek wealth - this is the main message of the poem “The Vagabond”.

Answer:

The principal idea of this poem is the liberty and independence of the life of a vagabond. The poet in this poem recounts the life of the vagabond. They have no fear of death. They want a merry sky above them, dip the bread in the river, and want their bed in the bush. They do not want wealth, hope, love or a friend. What they want is a quiet and humble life.
