⭐⭐<==================>⭐⭐

✯ the main reason for the growth of the IT industry :

►the earlier computers (1940 to 1960) were extremely expensive and large, requiring a lot of space. few could afford them.

►the invention of a small electronic device called Integrated circuit(IC), for cheap, changed all that.
a tiny chip can outperform a roomful of old computers.

►the development of chips led to the availability of small, powerful and affordable computers and related equipment, which was one of the key reason for the growth of the IT industry.

The Indian IT industry's steep growth is primarily due to a lot of factors but predominantly due to the following :

•The Year 2000 problem led to the creation/birth of the Indian IT industry since the Western countries did not have sufficient resources to fix the problem. And India had a  huge talent bank of human resources which could take this challenge head on.

•The second major factor was the start of Offshoring. The moment the Indian IT industry started offshoring the IT services work, it made a paradigm shift to the IT services industry which even the MNC's like IBM, Accenture had not thought about.

•As usual one thing led to another. The moment the Indian IT industry fixed the Year 2000 problem they acquired domain knowledge of legacy applications which now needed to be renovated, refurbished and the Indian IT industry pitched in big time.

•The Indian IT industry was extremely humble in picking up any work in the IT services arena like maintenance, testing, coding on COBOL and all such work which Westerners felt is not so good work.

•The costs at which the Indian IT industry did work was so attractive that the West started dumping tons and tons of IT work.

There could be a few more but these broadly are the main reasons.
