National river conservation plan is started by central government of india and the main objective of NRCA is , To keep the river water clean. and to make it pollution free water. and to improve the quality of water and the main plan is ganga action plan.

National River Conservation Plan (NRCP) Ganga Action Plan (GAP) Phase-I was started in 1985 as a 100 per cent centrally funded Scheme. The main objective of GAP was to improve the water quality of Ganga to acceptable standards by preventing the pollution load reaching the river.
