Answer:

Forests have long been threatened by a variety of destructive agents. Today, the frequency, intensity and timing of fire events, hurricanes, droughts, ice storms and insect outbreaks are shifting as a result of human activities and global climate change, making forest ecosystems even more prone to damage.

The major threat to the forest ecosystem is as follows:

1. The major threat in today's time has to be Deforestation. There are a lot of other threats as well including forest fires, pests, and diseases, construction projects, etc.

2. Deforestation has a direct impact on the wildlife residing in forests since it destroys their natural habitats. Clearing of land for agriculture, mining, or other purposes often leads to degradation of soil quality because of soil erosion.

3. With a drastic change in global temperature and climate change, forest fires have become way too common. It adds to air pollution and loss of species which ultimately affects the entire ecosystem.

4. Construction and Developmental projects wipe out forests for monetary gains. Skyscrapers, huge towers, and buildings are often standing on the land which was once home to wildlife.
