Given:

Dimensions of an aluminium block = 2.0in.× 3.0in. × 4.0in.

Density = 2.7 gcm⁻³

To find:

Mass of an aluminium block

Solution:

Formula for density that is used the given question will be-

         Density = \frac{Mass}{Volume}

or,       d = \frac{m}{V}

Formula to find volume of an aluminium block is -

    Volume = length × breadth × height

here, length = 2.0in

         breadth = 3.0in

         height = 4.0in

so, putting values of length, breadth and height we get,

     Volume = 2.0 × 3.0 × 4.0

                   = 12 in³

we know,   1in. = 2.54cm

therefore,   Volume = 12in^3. \times \frac{2.54cm}{in.} \times \frac{2.54cm}{in.} \times \frac{2.54cm}{in.}

                  Volume = 196.64cm³.

now, find mass, then

   Mass = Density × Volume

    Mass = 2.7 gcm⁻³ × 196.64cm³

    Mass = 530.928g

Therefore, mass of an aluminium block is 530.928g.
