Karat is a physical unit which is used to measure the purity of the gold and to determine the presence of other metals or alloys in the gold.

According to the hallmark system,18 karat gold means , there is 75% pure gold in a sample.

So in 2.5 grams of 18 karat gold ,there is = (2.5× 75/100) = 1.875 grams of pure gold. (Answer)
