the equation goes like, MgCO3 = ( decomposes) Mgo + CO2. molar mass of mgco3 = 84 g nd that of mgo produced is 40 g. by, unitary method , 84 g mgco3 ----- 40 g mgo, then 40 g mgco3 will give. 40*40/84= 19.04 g

hello!!
we can solve this answer by simply writing the equation.
MgCO3-----> MgO + CO2
here, mass of magnesium carbonate is 84g
         mass of magnesium oxide is 40g

if 84g of MgCO3 decomposes to form 40g of MgO
then 1g of MgCO3 decomposes to form 40/84=10/21g of MgO

now 40g of MgCO3 decomposes to form 19.05g of MgO.

I hope this is helpful
