Answer:
The "wanes," or long strips of handwoven loincloth, are worn by the men. The woman is dressed in a "lufid," or wraparound, skirt. The traditional clothing for female highlanders in Mountain Province, Northern Philippines, is called lufid. It is a rectangular handwoven garment that is worn around the waist and secured in place by a wakes or basket, a thick woven belt with ends left dangling at the back.
The fabrics are used for both the women's "lufid or getup" and the men's "wanes" (bahag or G-string) (tapis or wrap-around skirt). Our Bontoc tribe's cloths, in contrast to those of other Igorot tribes, are distinctive because symbols are frequently weaved into the designs.
