The maximum electrons are

K=2 (ist shell)

L=8 (2nd shell)

M=8 (3rd shell)

Total=18 electrons

You can use 2 n^2 to find the number of electron .

Where n ( shell number)

So, in this question shell number is 3

So 2 (3)^2

2 x 9

18

But if 3rd shell is last shell then electron number may vary

For example, elements in group 3 will have only 3 electron in its outer shell

Elements in group 4 will have only 4 electron in outer shell
