To Find :  maximum number of pieces into which a cube can be cut

(A) 316 (B) 412 (C) 392 (D) 145

Solution:

if , a , b and c are the cut in each direction then

Cubes into cut = (a + 1)(b + 1)(c + 1)

a + b + c = 19

  (a + 1)(b + 1)(c + 1)  will be maximum if

a  , b , c are  , 6 , 6 , 7

Hence number of cubes = (6 + 1)(6 + 1)(7 + 1)

= 7 * 7 * 8

= 392

Correct option is C)  392
