If we talk about in term of theory of relativity then if an object has mass, it cannot approach the speed of light.
An object with zero mass can approach the speed of light. So, speed of light is limited for any object. But recently it is found that if an object has imaginary mass i = sqrt (-1), it can move above the speed of light.
