Meaning of B.O.D :-

Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) is only a measurement of consumed oxygen by aquatic microorganisms to decompose or oxidize organic matter which occurs certain temperature over a specific time period. Here the organic compound oxidize by CO₂ and H₂O. The higer the BOD, the more contaminated.

Quantity of dissolved oxygen in mg/L required by microorganisms for oxidation of carbonaceous biogredable organic matter present in liquid.
