barter system is nothing but using goods as medium of exchange.
explaination: if u want to buy something now u have to pay money but in olden days before money was created people used things such as rice,fruits,animals etc... to purchase something . it involves exchange of goods from both seller and buyer.

Barter system is the system of exchange of goods bw people.

It was practiced in India for along time before money in the form of silver and gold coins was introduced.

The main disadvantage of barter system is that it has very less chances of double coincidence of wants which means that the good which you want to give is being needed by a person who has the good which is needed by you.
