- Blood transports oxygen & nutrients to every cell in our body.
- Cell uses oxygen to break the nutrients from food to get energy. This energy is stored as ATP molecules in Mitochondria.
- During this process, waste products & carbon di oxide ate generated. Cells put out these waste into blood.
- Blood takes them to kidneys from where wastes get eliminated.
- Similarly, carbon dioxide rich blood goes to lungs & get oxygenated.
- This oxygenated blood gets enriched with the nutrients from the food we eat at villi in small intestine.
- Finally blood gets pumped to various cells & organs.
- Thus blood continuously circulates through different organs providing them with oxygen & nutrients and carrying out their waste products. So, blood is called a vehicle & is referred as the Transport system of our body.
- When we do some strenuous exercise, we use energy from these ATP molecules. Using energy from ATP molecules to do work is known as "Metabolism"
