The day after Christmas, December 26th, is a public (or, statutory) holiday called Boxing Day across Canada. Thismeans it is basically a day off for everyone and if you have to go to work, you should be paid time and a half. Several theories exist on how Boxing Day got its name.

Hope this would be helpful.

In Canada the Boxing Day is not that boxing match day but there is the special event in which the Christmas day gifts are opened up on 26th December. Thus it is known as Boxing Day.
