From a brief perusal of the lyrics on Google, I would say this is a a relatively straightforward love song. There is a poetic technique of using opposites and it is difficult to say what came first - the linguistic opposites, or universal opposing forces.
In the case of a love song, it is quite common to feel, when in love, as if the loved one has something or represents things that the lover themselves are missing. i.e. when I am down you are up, when I am sad you make me smile - and so on.
This, unpoetically, has a biological component, in that the masculine and feminine are viewed as two parts of something, the whole of which is required for actual reproduction.
For me, this song could be viewed as a meditation on the Dao, the Chinese yin-yang symbol. Even the best fall down, and even the wrong words seem to rhyme. Each half of the Dao contains its own opposite - there is a black dot in the white half and a white dot in the black half.
For many people “I love you” also means, amongst other things “You complete me.” That’s what I get from this song.
The fact that the lovers collide also speaks to a kind of destiny - the two forces, the two people are destined for each other, they are tangled up together, the threads of their lives are entwined. It is both uplifting and of course terrifying, since to love is to possibly lose. It’s worth it though. :-)
Lovely song.
