what is the meaning of coalition government

If a party do not get clear majority in the central government then it join with other party to get control in the government. Example :- BJP got 50percent vote in the legislature and some other parties got 7 percent or 10 percent vote so BJP join with those parties. It give benefit to both by this BJP get control on the legislature and other parties got recognisation in the country.
