Genetic Counselling is the process by which the patients or the relatives of patients at a risk of an inherited disorders are advised of the consequences and nature of the disorder,
- Probability of developing
- Transmitting it
- Family planning.

Genetic Counselling is very useful from preventing thalassemia because,

- It provides the generation genetic history of the family.

- Risk assessment to the family.

- Identifying risk factors impacting medical management of the family.

- Assisting patients in conveying information about genetic risk to the family members.

- Providing pre- and post- counselling for all genetic testing. etc.

Hope it's useful.

All the best.
