Explanation:
though my soul may set in darkness. ... noticed that one star on a cloudy dark night that has made its light force it’s way through the shroud of darkness that has been trying to cover it. ... I had no idea who Sarah Williams was when I read this poem for the first time.
Answer:
The night, as we know, brings along stars with it. Here, while night is a symbolic representation of sorrow and difficulties, the stars are a symbol of the beautiful consequences (which come along the problems in our lifes) that await one on the other end of their journey, which they can only reach after passing through all these hurdles. So, what the line is trying to convey is that the speaker is so fond of the beautiful consequence that he/she isn't anymore afraid of the hurdles he/she has to cross to reach it.
