what is the meaning of phase??
(in chemistry as well as in English literature).

does it refers to a particular period of time, e. g. juvenile phase .
Or, state e. g. gaseous phase.
Or, different faces, e. g. phases of moon.
Or, different layers e. g. the mixture consisting of more than one phase is termed as heterogeneous mixture.

what is the exact meaning of it??
