Preamble is an introduction to the constitution. It walks before the constitution. It helps to open the minds of the law makers before they make a law. it "walks before " the constitution.

Our country India is a secular state as it does not enforce a single religion on its citizens unlike the country pakistan.pakistan calls itself an Islamic republic where as in india people are free to practice any religion

Thank you

The Constitution begins with a small statement of its basic values. This is called the Preamble to the Constitution. It contains the philosophy on which our Constitution has been built. It provides a standard to examine and evaluate any law and action of government, to find whether it is good or bad.

The Preamble is like an introduction or preface of a book. As an introduction,it is not a part of the contents but it explains the purposes and objectives with which the document has been written. As such the 'Preamble' provides the guidelines of the Constitution. Preamble,in brief, explains the objectives of Constitution in two ways : One, about the structure of the government and other, about the ideals to be achieved in independent India.

In the preamble of the Indian Constitution, 'Secular' means the people have full freedom to follow any religion. There is no official religion. Government treats all religions and their beliefs equally. Therefore India can be called a 'Secular' country because government of India doesn't force anyone to follow any religion and people of India have the freedom to follow the religion that they want to follow.

jkhan1: The Constitution of India begins with a Preamble so first page of Constitution is know as preamble which shows preamble India to be a Sovereign Socialist Secular Democratic Republic and a welfare state.
