» Prime number is a number which is divisible by 1 and itself.
(Or) A number which has 1 and itself only as factors.
Example : 2,3,5,7.......
Here, 2 is divisible by only 1 and 2 i.e., 1 and itself. So it is a prime number.
» Composite number is a number which is divisible by other numbers along with 1 and itself.
(Or) A number which has more than 2 factors.
Example : 4,6,8,9,....
Here, 4 is divisible by 1,2 and 4 means it is divisible by 1,itself (4) and other number (2) also. So it is a composite number.
