In the poem, "The Kite" the word 'raggeder' means to get torn or having a broken texture. 'Flap' means to try hard to get itself free from something. The Kite is seen to be a ragged condition when it gets stuck into the branches of the tree. When it is struck there it keeps flapping itself so that it can fly freely in the open air. The life of a kite is so short that it dies longing for freedom in the end.
