rate of disappearance means that how fast a reactant is getting consumed. it is measured by change in reactant in an interval of time.

so similarly rate of appearance means that how fast a product is getting formed. hence it is calculated by change in product in a given interval of time

u may note that untill the reactant doesn't get consumed product doesn't get formed. so u can say that rate of appearance is equal to rate of disappearance
