Sati - It was followed in olden days and even today in some parts of India it is illegally carried out. It is a tradition in which when the husband of any woman dies the woman have to lie on the funeral of her husband, on his dead body. Then the woman is burnt along with her husband's dead body.
It was a considered as a tradition in olden days but now the government is trying to abolish this tradition.

yes sati is good in Vedic that means woman is very virtuous to his husband
but it has a demerit that his wife has to jump into the fire if her husband dies. so its been abolished
