  • Ayas according to some some sources means "to cause good to somebody", from the root A-Y-S, a non-Quranic root. According to others, it comes from Persian and it is originally Ayaz, which means morning breeze, and the name become popular after Ayaz, the companion of Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni.
