Volume means the no. Of units occupying a particular area at a particular height....(area×length) let us understand it with a simple example, when 10 apples on a ground ,the area occupied by the apples are 10× total area occupied by the apples on the ground....now you cover the area covered by the apples uniformly with a box of length L , then we consider volume occupied by the apples as the area covered by the apples on the ground multiplied by the height of the box L......simply,volume is a property of closed surface.....
