Hey!!
the opening and closing of stomata take place due to turgor of guard cells.
the turgor changes in the guard cells during entry of water.
* generally stomata opens at day time and close at night time .
Hope it will help u....

There are two mechanisms or rather for the opening and closing of Stomata namely
i] Sugar Conc. Theory
ii] K+ ion Theory
=========================================
i] During day time the guard cells perform photosynthesis which leads to the production of glucose. This increases the osmotic pressure. As a result of which the cells draw in water by endosmosis. The guard cells turns turgid and bulge outwards thus widening the stomatal opening lying in between. This theory is called Sugar Conc. Theory.
ii] According to the recent K+ ion theory, the opening and closing of stomata depends on the generation of K+ ion gradients during daytime photosynthesis occurs and leading to the production of ATP in the guard cell this is used for active transportation of K+ ion and from the adjacent cells into the guard cells making the solution hypertonic as a result and Osmosis across the cell walls turns turgid and the stomata pore opens.
