The formula to calculate median = (N+1) /2 th term of the series where N is the number of observation in the series.

The given series is first arranged into ascending; 4,5,6,,8,9,11

N = 6

Median = (6+1)/2 th term

= 7/2 th term = 3.5 th term

= ( value of 3rd term + value of 4th term)/2  = (6+8) /2

= 14/2

= 7.
