Answer:

arrange first them in ascending order:

5 5 5 8 8 9 11

number of total terms are 7

so median will be (7+1/2)th term = 4th term = 8

so median will be 8.

thank you

Given,

Sample is 5,5,11,9,8,5,8

To find,

Median of the given sample

Solution,

Median is the measure of central tendency. It is the middle value of any group of data arranged either in ascending or descending order.

Given data, 5,5,11,9,8,5,8

Let's arrange in ascending order.

5,5,5,8,8,9,11

There are 7 observations in the sample.

Since there are odd number of observations, the formula of median will be

Median = \frac{n+1}{2} th observation

Median = \frac{7+1}{2} = \frac{8}{2} = 4th observation

So, in this sample 4th observation is 8.

Hence the median of the given sample is 8.
