The temperature of the reverse change from liquid to solid is called the freezing point or crystallization point. For most substances the melting point and freezing points are equal. For ice, the melting point is 0°C or 273K.

In order for the ice to melt it needs heat. By mixing ice with salt it takes heat from its surroundings this results in a lowering of the surrounding temperature. If you have an ice bath the temperature is zero deg C until all the ice melts but if you had salt and mix there is a fall in temperature. T
