in act 1 Antonio said that he was in melanchololic and sorrowful mood
we can also see that he is not in love nor is worried about his ships . He said that the world was a stage where every man has to play a part he said that his part was a sad one.
It also seems that he lived in the world for his best friend Bassanio. If Bassanio wasn't present he didn't cared to live .

Answer:
Antonio seemed to be sad and worried for his ships in the ocean. He was worried for them as they contained many costly and rare items that were too precious to be simply lost in the sea. The thought of loosing his ships made Antonio very uneasy and quieter than normal.
