Middle ear fluid is a fluid that accumulate in the middle ear, behind eardrum. Middle ear fluid is accumulated following an infection in ear, blockage of Eustachian tube, by flu/cold. Middle ear is normally filled with air which allows the movement of eardrum, ear bones and passage of sound waves into the ear. When air in the middle ear is replaced by fluid, movement of eardrum and ear bones is hindered, thus causing problem in hearing. Eustachian tube connects the middle ear to the nostril and allow the passage of air from nose into the middle ear to equalise the pressure difference between ear and atmosphere.
