10

Step-by-step explanation:

midpoint is 10+2/2 which is 6

y coordinate is 6+12/2 = 9

thus midpoint is (6,9)

easy question though

given points (2,6) and (10,12), find their mid point

Explanation:

  1. let there be two points 'A' and 'B' with co- ordinates A(x_1,y_1),\ B(x_2,y_2)         respectively.
  2. let the mid point of the segment joint 'A' and 'B' be denoted by 'm', then the co- ordinates of 'm' are given by,  m(\frac{x_1+x_2}{2} ,\frac{y_1+y_2}{2} )     ---(a)
  3. given here are two points (2,6),\ (10,12), hence referring points 1. we have,   x_1=2,\ y_1=6,\ x_2=10,\ y_2=12
  4. putting these value in (a) we get,    m(\frac{2+10}{2} ,\frac{6+12}{2} )
  5. hence, mid point of the segment joining (2,6),\ (10,12)  is (6,9)
