The book ‘Deep Water’ was written by American lawmaker and politician William Orville Douglas (1898 – 1980).

The two misadventures he mentions in the book are, once when he had gone to the beach with his family, he was swept over by a sea wave which bred in him an intense fear for water. This happened when he was a little boy.

Later on, after a few years when he was standing by the side of a swimming pool, he was pushed into the water by a bully. This prank almost cost the author his life, but some other boys pulled him out of the pool and saved him.

However, through sheer determination and courage, at a later time, he learnt swimming from an instructor.

Hey !!

The ''Misadventure'' is an incident that took place at the Y.M.C.A Swimming pool when the Douglas was eleven years old. One day when Douglas was waiting by the side of the pool for company, a big bully picked him up and tossed into the deep end which was nine feet in depth. As he was not a good swimmer, Douglas went at once at the bottom and he had to undergo a long and intense suffering during these moments, till he was saved.

Good luck !!
