Cultivation of crops along with rearing of animals is known as mixed farming (MF). This is very much popular in Asia specially in India where the farmers grow the crops along with livestock. The crops residues are efficiently utilised by the farmers they used it to feed for animals. And animal waste is used to decompose that results to farm a FYM (farm yard manures)/ compost.

When this is applied to field it improve the soil health and improve the crops yield.Farmers grow the fodder in field, which is used to feed the livestock.Mixed farming ultimately aimed to generate income throughout the year.
