mixed gland contain both serous and mucous secretory unit

gentalwolf: In the human body the pancreas is called a mixed gland because:
#it releases Insulin hormone into the blood directly without any ducts i.e; it acts as an endocrine gland
#during digestion it releases digestive enzymes in to deuodenum through duct i.e; it acts as an exocrine gland. hence, because of both endocrine and exocrine secretions it is called as a mixed gland
