Molarity of aqueous solution is 3.12 mol/kg

Explanation

Given that an aqueous solution of methyl alcohol CH3OH which contains 50g of alcohol in 500ml of the solution.

We have to find molarity of that solution.

Solution

Given mass of solute = 50g

Molar mass of methyl alcohol = 32

No. of moles in CH₃OH = Mass of solute/Number of moles.

→ No. of moles in CH₃OH = 50/32

No. of moles in CH₃OH = 1.56

Mass of solvent = 500 ml

= (500/1000) l

= 0.5 l

As, 1 liter of water = 1 kg

So, mass of solvent = 0.5 kg

Now we know the formula :

Molarity = No. of moles in solute/Mass of solvent.

→ Molarity = 1.56/0.5

→ Molarity = 3.12

Molarity = 3.12 mol/kg

Therefore, molarity of aqueous solution = 3.12 mol/kg
