M( molarity) = (no.of moles of solute)/ (volume of solution in litres)

molar mass of NaOH=23+16+1= 40

moles= given mass / molar mass

= 8/40

= 0.2 moles

Volume of solution = 0.5L

M= 0.2/0.5= 0.4 M
