Mass of the first car (m_1) = 200 kg

Velocity of first car (v_1) = 3 m/s

Mass of the second car (m_2) = 300 kg

Velocity of the second car (v_2) = 2 m/s

Initial momentum = 2 × 300 + 200 × 3 = 1200 kg m/s

Now, let the common velocity after the collision be v.

Final momentum = (200 + 300) × v

Since, the forces during the collision are internal forces. Hence, the momentum of the system will be constant.

500 v = 1200

v = \frac{1200}{500}v=

500

1200

v = 2.4 m/s

Hence, the common velocity after the collision will be 2.4 m/s
