monomer of carbohydrates is a simple sugar molecule made up of 3-7 carbon atoms along with hydrogen and oxygen and thus the name carbohydrates Ex. glucose, fructose, etc. All such monomers combine to form homopolysaccharides or heteropolysaccharides by loosing water molecules for formation of glycosidic bond.
