In the poem the road not taken written by Robert Frost the poet is confused . He is stuck in a dilemma to make a choice between which road should he choose and which not . He knows that if he would choose one road then he will never be able to get back to try the other road too . He sees two roads in front of him out of the two one is filled with green and new grass and the other is very dusty and clear . It seems to him that the first road was used very rare yet the second one was the choice of many . He is not able to decide which one to take for his journey .

The overall tone of the poem is one of regret. He believes that at some time far in the future, he will still be thinking of his two possible paths “with a sigh”. He does not anticipate being any less conflicted then or any more satisfied with his choice.
