So now you have how long it takes light, at a universal constant speed, to go one kilometer. So shine your light at the Moon, and see how long it takes to come back. You can then cross multiply and simplify to discover the moon is about 384,000 of your ‘kilometers’ away from Earth.
Using some common knowledge (or some math), you can figure out that the Moon takes 28 days to go completely around the Earth once. Plug your 384,000 km into the circle formula (circumference=2*radius(384,000 km)*pi(~3.13149) to find that the moons orbit is about 2,412,000 kilometers long. Divide that by how many of the time measures you want the speed in, (eg, divide by 28 for km per day, 40320 for minutes), and that’s the Moon’s speed!
