The most challenging value for me to practise is honesty.

Here are a few reasons why:

• People feel hurt- More often than not, whenever I give my honest opinion people tend to feel hurt. They are not willing to accept the truth and only want to hear what makes them happy.
• I am considered rude- Honesty is often confused with rudeness. An honest opinion is labeled as rudeness simply because the truth is often unpleasant.
• Honesty causes more problems- I have often been advised to keep quiet and not show my honesty, because honesty highlights shortcomings in others, which causes problems like denial. Unfortunately, it does not make people understand that positive criticism is necessary for self growth.
