The most common form of democracy is parliamentary democracy. Most countries follow the British model because most of present-day countries were ruled by UK, so its not unusual that countries ruled by UK follow its model. Also, UK estabilished various institutions in its colonies pertaining to its structure. This form prevents concentration of power in one hand, thus preventing misuse to some extent.
