Answer:

Wind is caused by differences in the atmospheric pressure. When a difference in atmospheric pressure exists, air moves from the higher to the lower pressure area, resulting in winds of various speeds. On a rotating planet, air will also be deflected by the Coriolis effect, except exactly on the equator.

Wind is caused by differences in the atmospheric pressure. When a difference in atmospheric pressure exists, air moves from the higher to the lower pressure area, resulting in winds of various speeds. On a rotating planet, air will also be deflected by the Coriolis effect, except exactly on the equator. Factors determining the velocity and direction of wind are as follows, *Fractional Force- it affects the speed of wind. It is greatest at the surface and it's influence generally extends upto an elevation of 1-3 km. *Coriolis Force- Rotation of Earth about its axis affects the direction of wind. it deflects the wind to the right in the N. hemisphere and vice versa in S. hemisphere.
